The appointment of Thomas Teye Partey and Richard Ofori as Andre Dede Ayew deputies have aroused several debates and arguments within the local media for days now.
Over the weekend, the Ghana Football Association announced changes in the Black Stars camp as two leaders Athletico Madrid play-maker Thomas Partey and Richard Ofori were offered a leadership role as assistant one and two captains respectively.
Sections of the media and ex-players have questioned the appointment of the duo but Stephen Frimpong Manso, former player and Coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC believes the two deputies named for the position deserve it.
Expectations were place on Mubarak Wakaso and Jordan Ayew for the position but Nkoranza Warriors SC head Coach sees otherwise, revealing that Partey and Richard have all being very phenomenal at their club levels.
“Chosing a new captain at this time, strategically will help the Blackstars to solve the current captainship issues”
“Dede Ayew, Thomas Partey and Richard Ofori all deserved because they have been instrumental in their various teams”, he told West FM in an interview.
“Captainship doesn’t concern about number of years one have spend in a team but rather what he can do both on and off the pitch(Leadership qualities)”.
