I’ve Not Worked With Shafiu To Say I Don’t Need Him – Ashgold trainer
Ghanaian trainer Thomas Duah has rubbished reports that, he does not need deadly forward Shafiu Mumuni in his squad ahead of next season Ghana Premier League campaign and Africa Inter-Club.
The skilful Ghanaian goal poacher who has gone on several trials abroad, is reported by club Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Frimpong not needed in the Miners team, as according to Ashanti Gold SC gaffer Thomas Duah.
Shafiu Mumuni, the Ghanaian player to score hattrick in the 2019/20 CAF Confederation Cup and the WAFU tournament is on the radar of top clubs in Ghana including Asante Kotoko SC, despite, close to a move abroad.
According to Emmanuel Frimpong(CEO), Coach Thomas Duah who was appointed few weeks before the suspension of the 2019/20 league season, says Shafiu Mumuni is not part of his plans in the upcoming season.
However, the tactician has distance himself from the report. Revealing that, he has not worked with Shafiu Mumuni to disclose that but watched him on Television.
“I can’t say a lot about him (Shafiu Mumuni) because I’ve not seen him since my appointment with the Ashanti Gold SC”I worked with the team for almost one month [before the Pandemic] I didn’t work with him and haven’t seen his play” Thomas Duah told OTEC FM.
“I’ve only watched him on TV when the team (AshGold) participated in the last African Confederation Cup” he concluded.
The Miners are due to play in Africa Inter-Club Competition next season following the cancellation of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season.
